Next concert - Folksongs in Wivenhoe on April 17

On Friday April 17th, we’ll be returning to St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe for a performance of our much-loved Folksongs of the British Isles programme.

Follow the early 20th century collectors of English folk music as they toured the land with bicycle, notebook and phonograph, telling poignant and humorous tales and hearing Morris tunes and sea shanties.  This evocative and quintessentially British sequence celebrates the traditional songs of our native land.

James Gilchrist joins as patron

We’re delighted to welcome celebrated English tenor James Gilchrist as a patron of Opus Anglicanum. James sang with the group in its early years and featured in many concerts and recordings.

“I'm very honoured to be asked to a patron of OA. I've known and loved this group from not quite its beginning, but certainly from its early days. The programmes have changed of course, and it's been fascinating to watch that happen, and the group continue to find new inventive ways of communicating the glories of music and words. A bright light shining into the future.”

Every item is a distinctive delight, beautifully sung, interspersed with perfectly judged readings.
